URGENT - UK Elders (or elders wives)

i am in urgent need of a copy of a letter sent to uk elders in regard to weddings held at the kh and specific comments about the responsibilities of the brother giving the wedding talk.

i'm told this is a fairly recent letter.. we have an elder kicking up hell about innactive ones who want to come and watch the wedding.

he happens to be the one giving the talk and is acting like he has full control on this wedding.

Hi, thanks for all the responses so far.

Just to clarify as my initial post may have been misleading.

The elder concerned is dictating as to who can attend the wedding reception not the service at the KH.

The point he is making is that as he is giving the talk he is responsible for such things and has an overiding decision on who can be invited to the evening. He claims this is in accordance with a recent letter to the body giving updated instructions in regard to weddings.

I don't believe a word of it and we need a copy of this recent letter as proof as this involves very close members of the brides family and no way should they be shut out and shunned in this way just for being inactive.

We have an elder kicking up hell about innactive ones who want to come and watch the wedding. He happens to be the one giving the talk and is acting like he has full control on this wedding. He's a control freak and is using this situation to his advantage. Even secretly interviewing various ones in the congregation.

A scanned version would be excellent as I need to present hard copy proof.

As you can imagine, there's a huge arguement developing, elders are misquoting this letter but will not show my family member the actual letter, as they claim it is confidential.

I'm only a mini so my powers are limited.

Revelation Climax bookstudy week 1: Ch 1, paragraphs 1-9

I have the pleasure of conducting the book study and had fun and games this week. My auxillary questions are a bit sneaky, as they have a double meaning to tease out answers that I know support the doublethink theory.

In regard to paragraph 7 this week, we discussed the illustrations, which is one of the so called reasons why we have a new revelation book to replace the previous four. My question was "although the illustrations are produced by our humble, imperfect brothers at bethel, how can we be sure that they depict the images that Jehovah wants us to imagine in our mind as we study this publication?"

Hand goes up....

Brother "J" please..

Brother J: Well, clearly, Jehovah wants us to have the truth and he would ensure that our brothers illustrate in the way he wants. In any case, if the illustrations we not correct, he would put a stop to it, and the book would not be published.

Me: Very good brother, excellent answer...

(Everyone nods in agreement...)

How tempted do you think I was to refer to such reasoning when we addressed paragraph 8, which discussed the reasons why the publications have been changed over the years.

If Jehovah would step in and put a stop to incorrect illustrations, how much more so would he put a stop to lies published as truths?

My journey out began when I came across a Google news report highlighting the "quotes" legal case. Although I had "questions" prior. So that's where I am at the moment although still very "in"

For over 20 years I've read and studied Matthew chapter 24 and always read it in harmony with Watchtower views. However, I'd like to discuss my personal view of the verses in simple form to get some feedback, since I have been trying out the latest and most fashionable craze "independent thinking"

According to the Watchtower, Matthew 24 reads as follows:

1. Christ returns invisibly. 2. This is then followed by a signal to his followers that he has returned by bad things taking place on the earth. 3. A preaching work is to be accomplished. 4. A great tribulation starts which is worse than the events that signalled the return of Christ. 5. Battle of Armageddon commences. 6. Most of the worlds population die apart from a monority which the WTS has been trying to number over the last 100 years.

What does the bible really teach?

1. Conditions on the earth during the last days worsen but the end is not yet. 2. There will be a preaching work and also a lot of false prophets. 3. After the tribulation of those days - i.e. the days that Jesus was just talking about - i.e. the tribulation discussed in the first point, when things are just too bad to continue, Jesus returns and everyone see's him - all the tribes of the earth.

I hope I've made myself clear - I'm rushing before certain people get home and I have to log off.

In short, read Matthew 24 and see how it describes the events of the times we are living in. Specifically, the great tribulation is not a seperate event and when Jesus returns everyone will know it, not just a select few.

He will return in all his glory.
